Obituary for Evelyn Wyona "Nona" Tarpley Long

Evelyn Wyona Tarpley Long passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018. She was born in Manchester, Tennessee on November 8, 1928 and moved to College Park in the 6th grade and graduated from College Park High School. She was pre-deceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Tarpley, three brothers, baby Jack Walton, Larry and Lewis, two sisters, Anita Thompson and Gloria Gienow. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 70 years, Lee Long; their three children, Marc and Debbie Long of Myrtle Beach, SC, Melinda and Rock Hutcheson of Griffin, GA, and Steve Long of Roswell, GA. Four grandchildren, Marcus Lee Long, IV, Angela Jones, Jeffrey and Joel Hutcheson. Five great-grandchildren, Kyra, Austin and Justin Long; Sarah and Trey Jones. Sisters, Nancy and Gene Westbrooks and Shirley Fletcher; many nieces and nephews whom were very dear to her. Nona was a longtime member of Southwest Christian Church and First Christian Church of Tyrone where her services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 2:30 p.m with remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Gary Boyd, Minister Craig Kingston, and Minister James White officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory on Hwy 74 in Fairburn. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Mallory Road in College Park, GA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291, where she has been a faithful volunteer for many years.
