Lorene Wiley Zupp, 80, born March 6, 1930, a lifetime resident of College Park, Ga., and the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Wiley of College Park, Ga., passed away March 15, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family as they said their goodbyes. She was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Earl, George and Lloyd; sister, Grace Casteel and great-grandchild, Zachary Zamboni. She is survived by her husband, Richard (Dick) Zupp, Jr., whom she married on December 30, 1949; children: Richard D. Zupp, III, and Nancy Ryan of East Point, Ga; Gary and Sherry Zupp Higgins of Hampton, Ga.; and Clayton W. Zupp, Sr.; grandchildren, Stefano and Yvette Zupp Zamboni, Jay and Keri Higgins Lanford, Hunter Ryan, Matt and Naiomi Zupp Shockley, Gary (Bubba) Higgins, Clayton Zupp, Jr. and Shelby Scott; great-grandchildren, Nicky and Izzy Zamboni, Hunter Ryan II, Hudson Lanford and Pyper Zupp. In addition, she is survived by her brother and sister-in- law, Paul and Eleanor Wiley, her sister and brother-in-law, Ed and Jerry Wilkes and sisters-in-law, Frances Wiley, Jane Wiley, and Elizabeth Wiley; 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews in addition to her extended Zupp family of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in Ohio. Along with being a super cook, avid football fan, ardent gardener, wife, Mom, and Ginny, she was a 70-year member of the College Park First United Methodist Church, where she held the Chair of Trustees for five years along with many other duties. She was not only the Past President of the College Park Legion Auxiliary - Post 50; a 60+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, but also a member of the College Park Women's Club. She was also the President of the College Park Historical Society. In the city of College Park, she was the chair of the Clean and Beautiful for the City Committee and also the Chair of the Outdoor Christmas Decorating Committee of College Park. She served as a youth counselor to youth of the Tri-City metro area Methodist Church youth choirs. She also served on the Board of Equalization for Fulton County for three years. She retired from Owens Illinois Glass Company on Sylvan Road in Hapeville. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at College Park First United Methodist. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
