I miss my brother, Freddy, who graduated in 1954, 3 year's ahead of me. Seems like we should still be able to talk together on the phone as we did until he passed away, years too soon. I miss his fun wife, Nora, and their children too; am wondering where they're all living, what they're doing, and how they're all making it in this most surreal time of our life's histories!

Freddy enjoyed teasing Sandra and me, even into our teen years. It always stirred our tempers. Mother would often remind us that he teased us because he liked to upset us and make us angry; he enjoyed watching our reactions, hoping to succeed in tempting us into a "push and shove." Guess he didn't get enough of battling when he had his turns with brothers, Wray and Larry!

Then there were the more pleasant, positive memories: Christmas Eve nights, as Freddy would lead his four younger siblings in our "
count down," 'til we were allowed up to enjoy the excitement of Christmas morning and Santa's surprises around the tree! There were a few times that Freddy actually "allowed" me to play football, baseball, or basketball with him and his neighborhood buddies; only when one "team" was short one player! (I always preferred baseball more than softball!). And most of the time he waited for me before he took off for S.R. YOUNG ELEMENTARY in the earlier days of our adventurous education! (That could have been Mother again!)

At CPHS, Freddy seldom even acknowledged me, especially in the revered halls of the College Park RAMS!  But I've forgiven him for that and all other injustices! He lived in Perry, GA with his wife and five children; not really close by to my home in Panama City, FL. But during the most difficult days, and joyous days, as a single mother of five, Freddy was "there," supporting me and my children. He, indeed, was a good brother! And, I miss him! 🏈⚾️ πŸ€
