I talked with Pam just a month ago and knew she was not well but certainly gave no thought to her death coming so suddenly.  What old and sweet high school memories doing fun and crazy things with a gang of girlfriends.....myself, Janet, Vangie, Patsy, Pam, and others.  We could do a sleepover and laugh until the last one fell asleep and we had eaten all our hostess had provided!!!  And we still care for and love each other after all these years.  I will miss knowing Pam is close by in Highlands but I will never forget her......nor will so many others.

Caroline Evans Coles came up to Highlands and stayed with us for a few days so we could try to be of some comfort and help to Ed and Eddie as they made preparation for Pam's Memorial Service which was held on Friday November 14th at Ed's Catholic Church. Eddie did a reading, Ed spoke eloquently a few words about his beloved Pam, and I sang a medley of her favorite hymns. Four of Ed's West Point buddies and their wives came to be with him, one from California and one from New Jersey. Ed was touched beyond words that they would make such a commitment. There were many tears but also many laughs. The entire weekend was special for all of us.

Caroline and I did a little shopping to lift our spirits and I arranged for a mutual friend of hers from Emory days and mine from our church up here in Highlands to meet us for lunch to surprise Caroline. Curtis took us out to dinner and to a movie and we spent some time with Ed...but we missed our friend of 64 years, the one and only Pam! It is a sad farewell to many years of fond memories as another classmate passes on.
