Pat Moye (Willingham) - Class Of 1962

Pat Moye (Willingham)

Joyce Whitfield (Smith), from the Class of 1962, advised us about Pat's passing on January 20, 2017, following a long battle with cancer.

Willingham- Patricia Moye. This is dedicated to a special lady whom God placed in our lives in one way or another throughout the past 73 years and whom God chose to take “home” on Friday, January 20, 2017, but she will live in our hearts forever. Patricia Moye Willingham, who was known by all as “Pat”, lived in Snellville. She was born on May 6, 1944, to the late Charles F. Moye and Lillian McClendon Moye at the Army Hospital, Fort McPherson in Fulton County, Georgia while her family lived in College Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Skip; her son, Chris; her dad; her brother, Terry Moye. She graduated from College Park High School, attended Georgia State University and worked in a variety of jobs including a proofreader of bills passed by the Georgia Legislature, Premier Jewelry and Tupperware Home Parties. Pat had been an active member of the Women of Georgia Power for many years. To know Pat was to love her. She was known to be a competitive, opinionated, sassy lady with much spunk and extremely strong but that is what made her one-of-a-kind. She was a classy, Southern lady who loved flashy, stylish clothes and hair styles, traveling to fun places and finding all the tea rooms along the way but wanted those places to include the beach because the beach was her Happy Place! Reading, playing games, and working jigsaw puzzles stood out as her favorite ways to pass her time and she wanted to include as many friends as possible in all of those above activities. Her greatest earthly love was for her immediate family and especially her grandsons, Casey and Austin! She loved them more than life itself and would travel as far as she needed to see them do their favorite thing … play baseball! Because of Pat’s love for her Almighty Father, she gave her life and time to her family and friends. A truer, more loyal friend could not be found. She had a huge heart of gold that loved everyone and full of passion to help whether it be family, friends, young people the homeless or whomever. Her relationship and daily walk with Jesus Christ gave her the strength to go through the many adversities that God sent her way, including the last year and a half in her strong fight against cancer. She realized that God puts His children through trials not only to increase one’s faith, but that one might help others who may face the same difficulties. She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson and a part of the Joy Class and opened her home for Ladies Home Bible Study. Pat is survived by her mother, Lillian Moye of Snellville; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Roger Parham of Dacula; two grandsons, Casey Parham of Sugar Hill; Austin Parham of Athens; Sister-in-Law, Linda Moye of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers-in-law, Neal Willingham of Galveston, TX; Mark Willingham of Union City; nieces and nephews; “sister” Deb Ray of Oxford; Beach/ Game Buddies: Bible Study/ Prayer Warriors; and a host of other friends. She will be greatly missed by all but we have hope of seeing her again because of Christ. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, from 5-8 PM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home and the Service will be at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson Tuesday, January 24, at 1:00 PM Dr. Ronny Spillers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Snellville. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to ENABLE of Georgia, Inc., who has ministered to her special needs brother-in-law for 35 years, 1200 Old Ellis Road, Roswell, GA 30076 or Church Building Fund: Chestnut Grove Baptist Church; 2299 Rosebud Road; Grayson, GA 30017. Arrangements by Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 2246 Wisteria Drive, Snellville, GA 30078, 770-979-5010.

Pat and I were friends during our school years.  We both went to Mercer Avenue Baptist Church and I remember many fun times there.  She was a wonderful person.
