BRIGGS, John, Jr. John B. Briggs, Jr. died suddenly after dealing with several lengthy illnesses on December 31, 2010. Mr. Briggs was born February 2, 1948, in High Point, North Carolina to Kathleen Mary Johnson Briggs of Wales and John B. Briggs, Sr., of High Point, North Carolina. John graduated from College Park High School 1967. He retired from AGL Resources, formerly Atlanta Gas Light Company, as Customer Account Manager in 2000 after 33 years of devoted service. John was an avid auto enthusiast and Georgia Tech fan. He was a loved father, grandfather, brother and husband. John is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Briggs of LaGrange, GA; two grandsons, Blake and Brett Barentine of LaGrange, GA; and a brother, Fred O. Briggs, his wife Jennie, and step daughter Arianna of McDonough, GA. He was married to Deborah A. Briggs of Duluth, GA for over 28 years. Also survived by two step children, Shayne H. Brown in Kuwait City and Mary Amber Brown Weidler of Norcross; three step grandchildren, Jaxon Deems, William Weidler and Mary Morgan Weidler all of Norcross; and nephew Michael Briggs and wife Wendy Briggs. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 7:00PM - 9:00PM. Funeral services were held January 4, 2011, at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033, 404-292-1551.
