Roland Scott Dodson

Colonel Roland Scott (Scotty) Dodson of Fayetteville passed away January 18, 2008 at the age of 56. Born June 6, 1951, Scotty graduated from College Park High School in 1969 and the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Col. Dodson flew F-16's for the Alabama National Guard retiring in 1995. He served in Turkey during Desert Shield. He worked for Delta Airlines as a Pilot for 30 years and most recently working as Manager of Pilot Flight Training for the B-737-800 program. Scotty was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Jack Dodson, and his father, Jack Young Dodson. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Dodson; son, Cody Scott Dodson of Fayetteville; mother, Martha Ann Dodson of Douglasville; brother, Don and Debbie Dodson of Douglasville; niece, Leigh Dodson; nephews, Jack Dodson, Sean and Kyle Snow; sister-in-law, Joanne Snow; uncle, Larry Dodson; cousin, Gail Milling. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 21st at 1 PM in the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church with remains placed instate at 12 Noon. Dr. Sam Matthews and Rev. Randy Nix will officiate. Interment will follow in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home between the hours of 6 and 8 PM on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tyler Dodson Memorial Prize Fund at Woodward Academy, 1662 Rugby Avenue, College Park, GA 30337.  Carl J.
