Steve passed in May 2002 from a massive heart attack. He was one of my best friend through all the times. He passed two days before we were suppose to go to Fl. and work on a house, I had in Steinhatchee. We had many good times together and I can't remember a single minute I spent with him, that we didn't enjoy hanging out. We were always glad when each other knocked on the door.
Steve used to babysit for us when we lived on N. Napoleon St. I could be wrong about this part but it seems like he lived on Mercer Ave. at the time, that very steep part leading down to Pierce St. next to a large undeveloped area which would later become Rugby Valley Apartments.
I have some very vivid memories of him bringing his 45s over with him to help keep us (and him) entertained. He introduced me to a song that is still one of my favorites-- Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter. I can still remember listening to that song for the first time when he was there. And we remember him being a very friendly guy. That must have been around 1968 when I was 7, give or take a year.
Sad that he died so young. I never saw or spoke to him again since those times almost 50 years ago, but I still remember him when he was a teenager.
