Ernny went to work for a hotel system with a job that had him travelling a lot. It usually involved late night drives over many miles. One of those nights his car left a 2 lane road in a single car accident. Nothing more specific was ever revealed.
Several of us knew Ernny for a long time. The contingent from Benjamin H. Neely Elementery School included Ernny, Emory Bray, Wanda Durden and myself, and probably at least 3 more I am forgetting.
He was the most "rasqually" little guy I ever knew. The perfect words for him were, "it is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog". He was such a good friend that I never seemed to acutally get into a fight until late high school. And me being at least 50 pounds heavier.
