George W. Routon, 78 years old, died on Friday, January 22, 2021.

George was born in Manchester, GA a son of the late J. Woodfin and Jane Odom Routon. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a partner in Southeastern Insurance Consultants, LLC.

George touched the lives of many through his work and most importantly through his gregarious personality and concern for others and for the well-being of his community and friends. He is widely known in the insurance business, highly respected by his peers, and greatly admired for his wisdom and caring spirit. His laughter was infectious and his friendship was treasured.

Survivors include his wife Agnes Mazzanti Routon of Newberry whom he married on October 17, 1965; children, Christopher Routon of Newberry, Julia Routon of Savannah, GA and Benjamin (Trish) Routon of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Kirsten Welch of Denver, CO, Katherine Torrance of Savannah, GA and Jesse Routon of Newberry; sisters, Carole (Ken) Thigpen of Dallas, GA and Mary Oakley of Fayetteville, GA.
