James (Buddy) Arnold

Chief Petty Officer James C. "Buddy" Arnold, Jr., U S Navy Retired, of Powder Springs, died Thursday, June 26, 2014. Service were held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory, Macland Chapel, in Powder Springs with Bob Lamb of the FCC of Mableton officiating. Interment was at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with Andy Daniel of FCC of Mableton officiating. At the request of Buddy Arnold, pallbearers will be members of the Cobb County Police and Sheriff's Department, grandkids and great-grandkids will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Jim (Buddy) Arnold was born June 18, 1934. He went on to receive his reward in heaven and to be with his Lord and Savior on June 26, 2014. He was a graduate of College Park High School. Buddy served in the United States Navy for 30 years and retired in November of 1980. Prior to his career with the Navy he also worked for Delta and Lockheed, then following his retirement he worked for JC Penney at Cumberland Mall, and State Farm Insurance. He has been a member of the First Christian Church of Mableton since 1974 and served the congregation as an elder. Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janelle Arnold, daughters, Jan Stephenson (Bobby) of Villa Rica, Christi Byers (Kevin) of Lithia Springs, sons, Tom (Terri) of Powder Springs, and Scott of Powder Springs. Nine grandchildren (two spouses) four great grandchildren, and triplets due in November to his granddaughter Michele. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Barbara McEachern of Jackson and Ginger Moore (Don) of Douglasville, brother-in-law, Vernon Fowler of Douglasville and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Christian Church of Mableton - Building Fund, or to a Charity of your choice. The family received friends at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory, Macland Chapel, in Powder Springs.
