Saddened by this news. Tho a year ahead of Elwood, he was one of thse people that transcend classes. I considered him a friend and he always was friendly to me at class reunions.
Zarrel and I were so saddened by this news. Woody and I were friends all through high schoool. We always enjoyed visiting with him at the reunions. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with his family.
My sincere condolences to Elward's family and friends. He was a very special person. We graduated in the same class. He had a way of lifting you up and making you feel special. His outgoing personality was so funny and what a joy to be in his presence. Heaven is a little brighter now, what a Godly man he was. We will see him again.
So sorry to hear of Elward's passing. Woody was everybodys friend. To some of us he will always be remembered as one of the boys in the band---our band in 1956.
He was Junior Class representative to some activity committee. On the committee for the Senior Class was Pam Wiggins, who was extremely pretty and popular.
For some minor offense, Elwood's dad had taken away his driving privileges, not gounded, he just had to leave his car parked.
Well, a committee meeting was due, and Pam learned of Elwood's lack of wheels. Even though he could have easily walked to the meeting, he enthusiastically accepted her offer of a ride with her.
At the appointed time, Pam drove into the driveway, and upon seeing Mr. Rigsby in the yard with Elwood, chose to get out rather than just wait for Elwood to come to her car.
Pam was at her gorgeous best, light hair, nice tan, and wearing a snug white dress, a real beauty. Elwood, with subdued formality, introduced the two, then with little further comment, they wished Mr. Rigsby good night and departed.
Elwood would chuckle when telling this, how his dad saw his punishment had an entirely different effect.

The date of his passing was March 30, 2015.
We were friends for 64 years, and exchanged email the night before he died. He was a remarkable person.
Sorry to lose him, but time marches on.

Elwood told me this high school story:
