Wayman Creel was one of the most successful and best known high school football coaches in the state of Georgia, whose coaching career spanded at least four decades. He had successful head coaching positions at Northside, Likeside, and I bellieve Westminister. He grew up two doors from my home on East Blount Street in south College Park near Neely School and Second Baptist Church.  He would have attended Neely Elementary and old Richardson High in College Park before transfering to the then new College Park High for his senior year. He played football at both Richardson and College Park where I believe he played fullback. He was about sixteen years order than me so I only have memories of him as a young man, however he would come to visit his parents long after he had married and moved away.  I spent many an hour on the weekend talking football with him with my cousin and brother in his parents front yard. He was not only a great coach but also a very fine man. The alumni at College Park High School can be proud to say that Coach Wayman Creel was one of us.
