Oscar Lacy Thompson (Lacy), 83, passed away on December 8, 2014 of Leukemia. He was born on April 16, 1931 in Atlanta, GA to Hugh Smarr Thompson and Edith L. Swiney Thompson. He grew up in College Park; attended Emory University where he graduated 4th in his class with a B.A. Degree in 1952. Post graduate he received a CLU (College of Life Underwriters) Degree. He lived for about 15 years in Texas in the San Antonio and Bandera area before returning back to the metro Atlanta area in 2012. He was self-employed as an independent insurance agent at the time of his death. Mr. Thompson is survived by his children, Lacy Thompson, Jr. of Lithonia, Susan Thompson Black of Winterville, and Charles David Thompson of Stone Mountain; brother, Hugh S. Thompson, Jr. of Fayetteville; sister, Barbara Wood of Lugoff, SC; and grandchildren, Brian Black of Alpharetta and Ashley Black of Statham. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 13, 2014 at 1:00pm in the Historical Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home Chapel at 2968 East Point Street, East Point, GA. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
