Lucy Bray (Minske)

Lucy A. Minske 1931–2017 Owatonna—Lucy (Bray) Minske passed away on December 17, 2017 at age 86 at Prairie Manor Care Center with Family at her side. Lucy was born to Zella and Eva Bray on February 15th 1931, in Fayette County, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children. In early childhood her family moved to College Park, Georgia. After graduating from College Park High School in 1949, Lucy was employed as a stenographer for an insurance company in Atlanta. In 1952 she met Christ Minske while he was in the Service and stationed in Georgia. They married October 18th 1952 and celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on October 18, 2017. After Christ was discharged from the Army, they made their home in Owatonna. Lucy was employed at Federated Insurance Company for 5 years and then became a full-time homemaker caring for their 3 children. She enjoyed playing Bridge and 500 with friends and family. Our annual Memorial Day weekend fishing trip to Farm Island Lake, Minnesota was a fun family time for over 50 years. After retirement, Christ and Lucy spent 25 winters in Mesa, Arizona. Lucy was a member of Faith Circle at the Owatonna United Methodist Church. Lucy is survived by her husband Christ; children Wayne (Anne) Minske, Chanhassen, MN, Michele Minske Des Moines, IA, Lisa Klever Minske, Des Moines, IA; brother Roy (Anne) Bray, Fort Wayne, IN; sister Marjorie Slack, Conyers, GA and grandchildren Zachary Klever, Des Moines IA, Cole Klever, Des Moines IA, Madeline Minske, Iowa City, IA, Luke Minske, Duluth, MN and many nieces and nephews. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Zella and Eva Bray; brothers and sisters in law, Lamar (Ruth) Bray, Jack (Laura) Bray; sister and brother in law, Alice (Bill) Rhodes and brother in law, James Slack. A visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Wednesday, December 20th from 4-7 PM and at church one hour prior to the service. A Funeral Service will be held at Owatonna United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 21 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Loren Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery in Blooming Grove Township. Memorials preferred to the Owatonna United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice in Albert Lea.
