Dan H Patrick, one of my best friends ever, was killed in a jeep rollover accident in the mid fifties.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1954 he was serving his Army commitment as an officer in Germany when the awful accident occurred. Dan had been President of our class and the Honor Society. He was a star football player and played at Auburn. He was married with a young daughter. It hit us all hard. What a tragic loss of talent and potential. After he died, his mother gave me his tan cashmere sweater. I still wear it today, over 50 years later. It keeps his memory alive in my mind, and that is a good thing.

Been a long time, but I remember Dan serving in the Army in Europe in the '50s. He was killed in a vehicle accident. Can't remember the circumstances. He had received a commission after college.
