Drew was a good friend. He was famous for driving around in his convertible full of girls. He was a kind soul and I will miss him.

I remember Drew Wigley, who was in the 1952 class.  I recall that he was involved in journalism, especially sports reporting.  One memory that has stuck with me was when, in 1950 I believe, Drew brought a guest to the Prom.  It was Eddie Mathews, who was then playing for the Atlanta Crackers in the old AA Southern Association.  He was a young good looking guy and I think some hearts among the student girls probably fluttered that night.

Eddie went from the Crackers to a Hall Of Fame career with the Boston Braves, the Milwaukee Braves and the Atlanta Braves.  While with the Crackers Eddie had one notable statistic.  In center field at the old Ponce De Leon ballpark there was a huge Magnolia tree in dead center field that was 462 feet from home plate.  Eddie was one of only two players to hit a home run into that tree.  The other player was Babe Ruth, who did it during an exhibition game against the Crackers.
