Dr. William Ready Anderson

Dr. William Ready Anderson, 57, of Mabry Road, Jackson, died Saturday, Nov. 30, in an Atlanta hospital following a lengthy illness.


The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 2, at College Park First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Stephen Nelms, Jim Hyder, and Jim Dyer officiating. Burial was in the College Park cemetery. 
Owner of Anderson's Drug Store Inc. of College Park for 36 years, he was a native of Fulton County and son of the late Maj. T. and Emma Ready Anderson. Dr. Anderson was the past president of Georgia Pharmaceutical Association; member of Board of Directors, Bank South Clayton; past member of College Park Housing Authority; Board of Directors, Lakeside Country Club; Elder, Jackson Presbyterian Church; first person in South Fulton to administer Sabin Oral Polio immunization to his community.
A graduate of the Darlington School in Rome, Dr. Anderson attended Oglethorpe University and graduated from Mercer University Southern College of Pharmacy. He received the 1991 Merck Sharp and Dohme Award for Outstanding Achievement in the pharmacy profession. The College Park Police Department made him an honorary policeman, presenting him with a badge.


Survivors include his wife, Marilyn McClure Anderson; son, William R. Anderson Jr. of Sanford, Fla.; daughter, Mary Jamison Anderson Burrell of Riverdale; granddaughters, Eliza Anderson and Toni Anderson of Sanford, Fla.; sisters, Jean Anderson Estes of Durham, N.C., and Eliza Anderson Hilliard of Alpharetta; aunts, Sara Smith of Johnston, S.C., and Elizabeth Anderson of Decatur.
