Gene Arnold

Edward Eugene “Gene” Arnold, age 77 of Douglasville, passed away, Sunday, May 5, 2013. He was born August 15, 1935 in Atlanta, GA to the late Paul Eugene Arnold and Mary McLendon Arnold. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, graduated from the John Marshall University, was a Police Officer of East Point 1962-1965 and retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1991 after a career of 26 years.

In addition to his parents, Paul Eugene Arnold and Mary McLendon Arnold, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Paul Arnold and Robert Arnold and son, Kipp Arnold.

Survivors are his loving wife of thirty-five years of Douglasville, Mary Lavonne Arnold; sister and brother-in-law: Jeanette and Kirby Bennett of Fayetteville, GA; sister-in-laws: Suzanne Arnold of Woodbury, GA and Linda Arnold of Marietta, GA; sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff Peters and Tina of Winston, Robert and Rhonda Peters of Douglasville, Allen and Beth Peters of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Johnny Freeman of Douglasville; daughter-in-law: Melissa Arnold, Lewisburg, TN.; grandchildren: Ashley McClure, Erica Arnold, both of Lewisburg, TN, Jordan Freeman, Derek Peters, A.J. Peters, Dylan Peters, all of Douglasville; great grandson, Zack McClure of Lewisburg, TN; nephews: Michael Bennett of Griffin, GA and Michael Carrell.

Funeral Service were held May 9, 2013 at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Gibbs officiating. Interment followed in the Central Baptist Church Memorial Gardens with Phil Hunnicutt, Stan Hunnicutt, Billy Lashley, Michael Carrell, Larry Haynie and Steve Huggins.

Honorary Pallbearers were Captain Ron Cain, Dan Meadows, Charles Parris, Bud Kilgore and members of the Circle of Friends III, Douglasville Group.

The family received friends May 8, 2013 at the funeral home.
