Karen M Coulter passed away at home on September 6, 2024 with her family, dogs and grand-dogs by her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice L Coulter, her son, David M Anthony, and her parents Myra Jo and Eugene Murphy and countless pets of all kinds.
She is survived by her beloved dogs Mattie, Mama Bella and Nancy as well as her pitac Oliver. She is also survived by her 3 children, Michael (Gillian) Anthony of Ramhurst, Stephen (Erin) Anthony of Kennesaw, Julianne (Gregg) Wynn of Ramhurst as well as Maurice's children Marcie Pittman and Mark Coulter. She also leaves behind David's daughter Ashley Cason of Canton, Ga. Ashley was the first to make "Dandy" a grandmother for all those that followed including David McDonald of Ramhurst, Alexandra Stone of Jackson, Wy, Rachel Anthony of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nick Anthony of Kennesaw. She has several great grandchildren that she so adored spending time with including Harley Rae Cason, Tristan Cason and Henley McDonald as well as a brand-new great grandson, Fisher Stone that she did not get to meet.
Karen (Mom) lived 3 different lifetimes in the time she was here. First was marriage and raising 4 children and carting them around to baseball games and Girl Scout meetings.
She saw her 2nd chapter as an adventurer and traveler. She moved across the country and had some exciting jobs in radio, she even worked on the Queen Mary for a time. While there she lost her son David in a sudden and tragic accident after which the family slowly migrated back to Georgia.
Her 3rd chapter brought her back to the south where she worked at the CNN foreign desk and after retirement became very involved in the world of animal rescue as well as raising sheep on the family farm with her beloved Maurice. They travelled the world together whenever they could. She was instrumental in the creation of the county shelter and animal ordinances for Murray County. In 2012 she started a nonprofit animal rescue to help the county shelter handle special cases and capacity issues. Countless animals have been helped by her over the years.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
