Emory H. Bray, age 71, of Carrollton GA passed away peacefully Friday, October 25, 2024 in Panama City Beach Florida. Emory was born to parents Robert Lamar Bray and Ruth Naomi Bray on November 7, 1952 in Atlanta Georgia. In addition to his parents, Emory is preceded in death by his sister, Connie.

A good-looking, charismatic force of nature, Emory was known fondly by many as "Pops", "Pawnman", or "Big E". He graduated from College Park High School in 1970. Emory served his country in the Georgia National Guard, an experience that deepened his love for his nation.

Emory was a lifelong baseball enthusiast, transitioning from a talented baseball player to dedicated coach and loyal Atlanta Braves fan. He also never missed a chance to watch his Georgia Bulldogs play, always up for cheering on the Dawgs with family and friends on game day.

A well-loved figure in the community, Emory was the owner of the Newnan Plaza Pawn Shop and other businesses, where he supported his family and extended his generosity to others, often sharing his quick wit and warm humor with everyone he met.
In his retirement, Emory fully embraced life, often proclaiming, "I wanna go to the beach!" His days were filled with fishing, motorcycle rides, weightlifting, and basking in the sun. He especially enjoyed deep-sea fishing trips in Costa Rica, relishing the adventure and beauty of the open water. Above all, Emory cherished his wife, family, friends, and his dog Sky, creating countless memories with the ones he loved most.

Emory is survived by his dear wife Jenny Bray; son, Benjamin (Heather) Bray; daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Lisborg; stepson, Shannon (Angie) Monroe; stepdaughter, Sherry (David) Jackson; grandchildren, Dustin Bray, Madison (Ross) Denton, Jaden Bray, Grayson Bray, Ansley McGuire, Addison McGuire, Emma Lisborg, Nathanial Emory Lisborg and Kendyll (Quentin) Gould; brothers, Richard Bray, (wife deceased Martha), Larry (Jackie) Bray and Kenneth (Anita) Bray.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations be made to Bethesda Baptist Church, 1539 Bethesda Church Road, Carrolton, GA 30117.

A celebration of Emory's life will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson St. Newnan, GA with Pastor Tony Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4-6 PM at McKoon Funeral Home.
