Elaine Cargle

Elaine Cargle, of East Point, GA passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on April 29, 2022. She was born in Atlanta, GA, attended College Park High School and was a local business owner until her retirement in 2018. Her career in the hospitality industry began in the late 1970’s working for John Portman, then later working for Rosemont purchasing (Hyatt Hotels). In 1996 she founded Central Purchasing, Inc. and in the next twenty years purchased interiors for some of America’s finest hotels.  She was a longtime booster of the Tri-Cities area where she lived most of her life and participated in community volunteering. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Clark and Thelma (Cheek) Clark of College Park and is survived by her husband Mel Cargle; daughter Anna Cunningham (Mike) of McDonough, GA; brothers Johnny Clark of East Point; Gary Clark (Beverly) of Williamson, GA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A family memorial is being planned. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the ASPCA or the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality Scholarship Fund.

Mary Carolyn Evans (Little) (1971)

Elaine was one of the most vibrant people whom I have ever known. Elaine was fun to be with, and we always had a pleasant time. I envision her coming toward me with her wonderful smile. Good times.
