Larry Wayne Kirkland (76) passed away peacefully in Smyrna, Ga. on July 2nd, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Born December 19th, 1947 to Anna and James Kirkland Sr., Larry lived his youth in College Park, GA. A firefighter and salesman by trade, Larry was strong willed and, although he was stubborn at times, he also had a wonderful sense of humor. He was caring and curious and fueled this curiosity with conversations with his many friends both online and in person.
Larry is survived by his daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Martin, granddaughter Anna, brother James Jr., sister-in-law Maxine, and nephew Jamie. He will be remembered for all the kindness he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew that was true. He will be missed dearly.
In typical Larry fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur on Saturday July 13th, 2024 at 10 AM Eastern time on the second floor of Delmar Gardens Assisted Living, 404 King Springs Village Pkwy, Smyrna, Ga 30082, all are welcome to come share in his memory.
I met Larry at Newton Estates Grade School when my family moved to College Park from LaGrange during the Christmas break in 1956. When our 7th grade class went to D.C. he was my teammate and it was our job to make sure the other one didn't get left behind. He had his hands full because I tend to wander off.
