Roland Marshall Shackelford, Jr., age 66, of Monticello, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at his residence.

Roland Shackelford was born in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Roland Marshall Shackelford, Sr. and Rena Faith Shackelford. 

He was a fire fighter and later, Captain for the Atlanta Fire Department and retired after 30 years. He moved to Jasper County in 1986.

Roland loved to play golf and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Edwards Shackelford of Monticello; daughters and son-in-law, Genie and Christopher Champlain of Brooksville, Fla., Heather Fitz of McDonough, Holly Akins of Gwinnett County, and Hope Shackelford of Lilburn; step-daughter, Lynne Bulthouse of Monticello; and step-sons, Chris Thompson of Gainesville, and Brad Thompson of Palo Pinta, Texas; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
