Wanda Wallace (Gomez) (1972)

I can't believe that I graduated in 1972, and I have not been to one single reunion.  Well, it could be that I moved to South Florida and sorta' lost touch, so I didn't even know when a reunion had been planned.  I do plan to go to the September 2012 one though, although I probably won't remember anybody's face!!

Hey Linda, well I graduated in 1973. Although I did not go to school that year. All I needed was 3 English credits for me to be able to graudate so I took them in summer school....I was so ready to be out of school...if I only knew then what I know now...

This is a great site...Good job to everyone......My class was 1971..I am retired but do work VERY full time running a death row dog rescue at my home in Alabama. I do not charge for my dogs but not everyone who fills out a application gets one from me.  I have some great dogs...all nutered/spay and UTD on shots.  So don't go to a Puppy mill to get a dog or a Mall. Your local Dog Shelter has great dogs and cats that will love you forever..

Also, How many times have you drove by a stray dog on the road or in a parking lot which is used for a dumping ground for a dog.  Keep a small bag of dog food in your trunk,  take 3 minutes to feed that dog.  Maybe it will live long enough for a rescuer to come find and save it.....

And for thouse of you that think if you drop off you pet at a local shelter,  please remember that 9 out of 10 dogs never make it out,  they are PTS in about 5 days to a week.......Your local county/city run shelter is a KILL shelter.

If any one of you are looking for a dog for a family pet,  take a look at my website.  God Bless!!!!

Vangie Carruthers (Rich) (1955)

Wanda,  we've never met, I was in the class of '55 but moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in the fall of '54 and graduated from an international school down there. However, I left my cousin, Plato Rhyne, and many close friends in College Park so I still feel like a part of my class and have participated in all reunions.  My husband and I live in the same neighborhood in Highlands, NC with Pam Wiggins Szvetecz and Jerry and Shirley Ramsey Huie, Stell and Madeline Huie live nearby. Janice Denney Olson and Andy  spend summers here and Caroline Evans Coles, Neal and Johnnie Barronton, Shirley Bennett Hosick and Bill , and Plato and Judy Rhyne have all visited at one time or another. We always have a wonderful time when we get together. Now with this wonderful website you've developed for us many more of us are able to locate and communicate with people we haven't seen in well over 50 years. Thank you for opening up a whole new world for us...it's worth more than a trip to Europe to me! You deserve a medal! I look forward to meeting you at the reunion.

Sincerely,   Vangie C. Rich

I haven't attended a reunion since graduating!  Wish I could make this one, it would be fun to see old friends again.

Hope more of our classmates will join and respond soon.

George Thomas Brooks, Jr., is on the missing classmates page, but it saddens me to say that Thomas passed away in the early to mid 80s (approximately) by succumbing to Hodgkin's disease. I attended his funeral. Thought this would be useful information for your record keeping.

This, I think, is the hardest part.  Realizing how many of us have already gone.  Can you remember in high school thinking we would all live forever and none of us would ever get old?  Boy, we really got sucker punched didn't we?  Becky Privett Jones (Class of '73)

Just wondering why Mr. Booth's name is not on the teacher list.  He was a very good math teacher - I

probably would not have passed Algebra if he had not been such a good teacher and so patient.

For all us teenagers in the 50's. We have just lost a Legend,Dick Clark.  We are a very lucky group to have been teenagers at that time. What a great time to live in. And to live it at CPHS..  Great Years.  Class of 1958. Jack Holt

Hi Mark,  it has been a while! Hope all is well with you.  I think these are the only messages on the Forum, but I could be wrong.  You can ask Wanda Wallace Gomez and I know she'll have the answer.  Hope you're coming to the reunion.  Becky Privett Jones

Is there anyone who played on the Girls Basketball team between 1947-1951?  There are not many of us left but if you are one I would like to hear from you.  Julia Lassiter Berger

@Nancy.  We haven't put many teachers on the site yet because we have been concentrating on getting all the students squared away.  As soon as that is done, we may start adding teachers, and I will be sure to include him!

Sharon Turner (Jenkins) (1966)

From: Sharon Turner Jenkins - Class 0f 1966 Being very new to Facebook, I'm still unsure of where to post this. My brother, Larry Turner(class of 1965), passed away on May 25, 2012 at the young age of 66, due to complications from heart problems and Diabetes. He & I use to drive the green Turner's Tank truck to school, and pick up people; by the time we got to school we would have friends inside and outside riding on the running boards, and on the back bumper!!!!!

I loved my brother dearly, and never expected to lose him so soon.
