Howell (Hal) Jordon - Class Of 1953

Howell (Hal) Jordon

Hal graduated from West Point and went into the Army. He was killed in a Jeep accident in Germany I think. Accident was in the early 60s as best I remember.

My parents were close friends with the Jordans and I had an opportunity to see them in Washington, DC just before Hal died. Such a tragic loss as Hal was one of the "good guys".

Edward (Jack) Downing (1953)

I'm Edward (Jack) Downing, Hal's high school classmate ('53) and one year behind him at West Point ('57, '58).  He and Joe Bishop (CP '52, USMA '57) were the only friendly upperclassmen I had during Plebe year.

Last week,, at a curch men's breakfast, I was seated next to a stranger, "Red" ..  In converstionn, he said that his wife, Gladys, was Hal Jordan"s sister.  What an amazing coincidence.  We both live in Springfield, VA and I will get to know them better..
