Danelle Hughes (Freeman) (1958)

Hi Jack,

The reunion was fun.  Joann, Carleen, Linda Holland and I were the only S.R. Young alumni.  Joann has a wonderful scrapbook that contains hundreds of photos from the years at Young and CPHS.  I always enjoy looking through it.

Harold had the same surgery as you and he is doing fine.  Thank God for all the advances in medicine.

As Charlie Ivester was leaving last night I said to him, "See you in five years."  He said, "You better make than two.  Who knows who will be here in five years."  When you think about it, in five years we will all be around 78.  I can't believe we are so old.  I certainly don't feel that old.

Looking forward to seeing you at the next reunion--be it two years or five.

Danelle

It was good to see all our classmates a the mini reunion Sat.evening. We got to catch up on a few things.

Had to leave a little early due to a tooth ache. Should have had Clell look at them.  It was great to see all that was in attendance. Blessings to all that was there!!  ( I'm glad I still have my teeth).  J&D

Hi James,

You know how old folks forget--I forgot that you went to S. R. Young, and I guess I never spoke to James Kite while at the reunion.

Glad you set me straight.  I need all the help I can get!!

Hi Danelle,

Like Jack Holt, I also did 7 years at S. R. Young from Ms. Archer thru Ms. Perry.  I was late to the reunion so I missed a lot of folks.

Jack, "been there, done that", and now have a PSA of less than 2.  Hang in there, old friend.

May we all live to see the next reunion!

To the Class of 1954 and to anyone who remembers Freddy Thomas, my brother: Fred is being moved to hospice after several years fighting melanoma. If you would like to send a card, he will be at the hospice connected to Perry Hospital in Perry, GA.

TO SANDRA  THOMAS

Sandra, I am really sorry to hear that your brother Freddy is in the hospice in Perry, GA. Do you have an address for him? My email is: barronto@bellsouth.net.   If not, I will get it and send a card. I wonder if he can get access to this Forum?

I just had an encounter with melanoma myself. A mole I had for 6 years was removed and diagnosed as melanoma.  Fortunately, one more fairly small operation cleared it. All of our classmates need to watch those moles. We are paying for those trips to Daytona Beach all those many years ago

Freddy was one of those icons of my growing up at S. R. Young and Peter Pan Park. I played a lot of baseball and tennis with him there.  He was a good catcher. Can he be reached by phone?  I had wondered what happened to Freddy.

It is my understanding that Mr Bostardi has very recently passed away.  I will post more info as I get it.  His son taught with Mr. Scott's grandson and Harriet called to tell me.  We don't know details however.  More later.

James (Buddy) Arnold (1952)

It seems as if the older we get the more familiar names appear as passing schoolmates. I recently lost my cousin, Gene Arnold. Additionally I recently saw word of the passing of Robert Harris Class of '53 I believe and Ronald Brown Class of '52. These were great friends when we were in school together and I am sure will be missed by many.

Buddy Arnold,

I remember watching you fish with the first "spinning outfit" I ever saw. We were on a 1952 Class Picnic at Vogal State Park and you were casting beneath a part of the boat house. You caught a bass on the smallest lure I ever saw! I was amazed.

Do you still fish? I play around with flyfishing mostly in Colorado, Arkansas, New Mexico and Georgia. Hope to see you again one of these days, Buddy, and chat about ol' times.

James (Buddy) Arnold (1952)

Roland Perdue I can think of no one I would enjoy wetting a hook with than you. Unfortunately both of my knees are bone on bone and I have on phony hip. Makes it hard to stand for very long. Guess I am only good for sitting on the bank, however that wouldn't be too bad. I don't know if you are aware of the fact that your dad took me on my first trout fishing trip when we worked together at Delta. I always appreciated that of him. You know my favorite buddy when it came to fishing was Henry Jones and I really miss him. Did get to visit him in Alabama a few years back before his untimely death. It appears quite a few of our classmates have gone on.Glad that we are both still kicking. Missed you at the latest reunion, hope we will both be around for the next one and we can see each other.

Roland Perdue (1952)

 Buddy Arnold,

I am fine with bank fishing, a couple of beers or a scotch or two and a nap while the fish circle around the bait.

I am still doing interims from church to church - two years here and there, and shorter stints when the committees looking for new pastors are faster than usual. I retired officially in 1998 and have done 11 interims in the last fifthteen years in West Virginia, Texas (two), New Jersey (Two), New York, Tennessee (two) and North Carolina (two).

We are moving to Georgetown, TX, to retire again and be near three childrens and their familes in Austin, TX. Our other two children and familes are in Georgia and California.

Tell me about the years between back then and now.

Love,

Roland Perdue

Walter W. Brown (1956)

This is a heart felt shock for me concerning the passing of Joy Allen(As I knew her) Patterson.  Joy was my first girlfriend at CPHS.   We hd some good times together.  I remember a conversation at one of our reunions when she said, "Let go and let God" after talking about some of her problems.  I am sure God will receive her with open arms.   Walter "Wayne" Brown

I was just notified by a fellow 1964 classmate that a dear classmate, Janice Watkins, passed away on May 23 after a very brief illness.  Janice lived in Powder Springs.  There is an obituary that was published in the AJC on May 27 & you can find a little more info on her FB page.  Janice was such a sweet person & she will be missed....rest in peace, Janice.
